Tucked away within ITM's Offsite, Staging & Logistics facility is our recently built technical training and solution evaluation workshop. The workshop was commissioned during 2021 to provide a dedicated technical space to help us assess engineering skills and to undertake proof of concept work for our customers.
This new facility is really proving its value, offering senior ITM technical staff the ability to mockup cabinets, containment, fibre and copper cabling along with associated infrastructure in training or customer specific configurations.
Glen Williams, Senior Project Manager commented "The workshop allows me to rapidly assess the skills of applicant engineers in specific technical areas such as copper and fibre terminations, Fluke testing and containment installation. This helps us to make rapid and objective hiring decisions. Since building the workshop in September 2021 we have hired 5 new engineers and undertaken a fairly complex proof of concept with a customer involving their own specific border entry kiosks."
A recently hired engineer commented "I felt comfortable in a practical surrounding during the interview process, which was a lot better than having a 1 to 1 behind a desk."
