Mike has spent his career aquiring business skills that make him a highly qualified and experienced professional. He now operates as an independent self employed consultant.
Engineering
Mike is a qualified Electronics Engineer. His professional career began as an apprentice where he was involved with research and development for major engineering projects including some of the early automated petrol pumps, we are so used to today.
Selling
Not wishing to work in a laboratory, Mike moved into retail, selling technology products to the public. This led to business to business selling where he served as Salesman, Manager and Company Director. During this time his responsibilities widened to include foreign markets as diverse as North America, Asia and Europe.
MarketingAs a Company Director Mike took on the responsibility for Marketing. His engineering and selling experience made him an ideal choice to oversee the specification, development and market positioning of an expanding product portfolio. From this he went on to work towards total marketing orientation concept that lead to significant corporate success.
Computer Programming
As an engineer Mike became proficient at programming computers in both low level machine language as well as higher level languages like Basic. Over the years he maintained an interest in programming languages and now undertakes web programming in HTML, HTMLOS, Perl (CGI), Javascript and PHP.
Information Technology
Mike has worked as an IT manager and in this role has been responsible for the management of Novel networking as well as the specification, implementation and maintenance of NT networking in the Small to Medium Size Enterprise (SME).
Web Design
Mike has implemented a number of web-site solutions including e-commerce. His marketing skills have helped clients capitalise on their competitive advantage in the virtual world. He is also skilled at search engine positioning.
Databases
Mike has designed and worked with proprietary databases and mySQL in the web environment as well as many others on Local Area Networks (LANs). He has implemented and programmed customised database reporting using Crystal Info and Crystal reports on corporate networks.
Business Accounting
Mike has been responsible for the evaluation, selection, customisation and maintenance of corporate business software. His extensive experience of management in the SME environment has provided the knowledge necessary to match accounting needs with the large number of proprietary software options available today. He has also worked very closely with accountants at the highest level over many years.
Corporate Management
The business environment is ever-changing and Mike has experienced the problems of both growth and downsizing. His Marketing expertise can help create an environment that will ease management through these most difficult of times.
